Hyderabad: The Alai-Bhalai, by Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya to mark Dasara festivities, The celebrations at Jal Vihar on water front of Hussainsagar were attended by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, senior officials led by Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, film actors, cultural artistes and people from all walks of life.
Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, who owned a dairy in the city, praised the scarf and said his father also wore it as a milk seller. Lokayukta Justice B. Subhashan Reddy hoped that Alai-Bhalai would be seen as a festival in future in a sequence commencing with Bathukamma.
The Governor asked the leaders to show unity that they displayed here in public life. Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu said only Mr. Dattatreya was capable of mobilising leaders across parties. Among those present were Speaker S. Madhusudana Chary, Ministers Nayini Narasimha Reddy and Etala Rajender, MPs K. Keshava Rao and A.P. Jitender Reddy (TRS Party), Malla Reddy, revanth reddy, E. Dayakar Rao and L. Ramana (TDP Party), film stars Rajendra Prasad, Krishnam Raju, singer Goreti Venkanna, Telangana JAC chairman M. Kodandaram.
Replying to the felicitations, Mr. Dattatreya said he had launched the event in 2005 with the aim to provide a platform to echo the sentiment of separate Telangana.
