Congress has more hopes on Warangal Seat Congress party has found itself on the horns of a dilemma whether to align with the Left party, now with the latter pitching for the candidature of balladeer Gaddar to contest in the byelection from Warangal Lok sabha constitution.

The Congress leaders are reportedly finding it difficult to support the candidature of Gaddar, one of the strongest protagonists of separate Telangana movement and also a revolutionary ideologue. Actually, the party has planned to field its own candidate. There is speculation that the party may field former Lok Sabha Speaker, Meera Kumar, daughter of Babu Jagjivan Ram.

Left party felt that Gaddar would emerge a strong contender. “If there is no united opposition to the ruling party, it will be a cakewalk for TRS candidate in Warangal,” felt a senior leader. The Congress has taken the byelection as a prestige issue. The party leaders have decided to wait for the TDP-BJP combine announcing its candidate. The TDP and BJP are exploring all possibilities of fielding a common candidate.

Warangal, being a reserved constituency, the Congress is expecting that it will secure majority of voters of Scheduled Castes. They are planning to portray the TRS government as anti-Dalit int he light of dismissal of Deputy Chief Minister T Rajaiah from the Cabinet.
